MY DOULA STORY

I have been working as a doula since 2015. Before this, I worked as a cook and a seamstress, and spent a lot of time travelling the world. I returned to the UK to follow my dream of getting a PhD in Genetics and Archaeology. I became pregnant in my first year! Never one to quit when things get tricky, I still managed to complete my thesis within the 4 year deadline.

However, having a baby set me on a totally different path as I struggled to adjust to parenthood and my new responsibilities. As I shared my experiences with friends and other parents I  realised the amount of shame and guilt that comes with parenting struggles and I found my passion in supporting parents and challenging taboos with ‘real talk’.

In 2015 I completed Doula training at Developing Doulas with Maddie McMahon. I'm also a qualified counsellor (level 5). I am a fully accredited Traumatic birth recovery 3-step Rewind trauma practitioner from the College of Perinatal Mental Health.
